40 years of Dungeon & Dragons

After many years of the flourishing RPG game, they decided to mark the occasion with a revamp of the logo and graphics for the books. Here is a quick glance at the difference in the small ampersand sign they use. The focus is now on the design of the ampersand this graphic change is just a small scale version but they have made the ampersand the focus of the new logo design.

Compared to even the previous logo the new one is focused more on the ampersand then the words them self. They have simplified the logo to create a stronger brand identity with the ampersand. When you compare the logo that was on the books last there is a lot going on. They have not only changed the font slightly they have left the words just a sold colour instead of multiple colours, shading, and depth.

The original logo was simple and just words as you can see here. It progressed into text with the ampersand, then a dragon design in the ampersand, changed it completely with a sword I between the words and coloured text and changed the dragon ampersand and boxed it off, and finally to what you currently see for the logo of red fire text with a line to cut between the words and a dragon ampersand . They have made the logo more appealing and not so crowded with graphical elements.

It looks like they have decided to go back to the original design of Dungeons & Dragons with an ampersand. Do you really blame them?  When you simplify the logo it's easier for people to remember the logo and they are reaffirming their brand identity.

The 40 year anniversary also rolled out the fifth edition of the books and manuals.

Compared to how the original looked it has nice graphical images with a clean and simple logo. Everything is legible and the colours work on any graphic image.

Do you think that D&D has gone back to their original roots in the logo redesign? Do you think it is an improvement on their last logo? What are your thoughts?

Guardians of the Galaxy

A new movie poster was released for Guardians of the Galaxy. There is also a new extended trailer further into this post. The colours the graphics and the action in this movie look amazing. But we shall see what it really will be like when the movie comes out August 1st.

This poster is getting mixed emotions from people because it looks oddly like a movie poster made before.
"It's not really a superhero film per se. It feels more like a Star Wars kind of film. And I play a kind of space cop." Chris Pratt "It's not as broad as Galaxy Quest but it's not a straightforward space fantasy like Star Wars. I think it's the sort of the best of both of those films put together...and more!"
Chris Pratt compared this movie to Star Wars, would it be too much of a coincidence that the movie posters would end up looking very similar.

Along with the movie poster there are many pictures showing sneak peaks of what the movie characters will look like.

Here is a look at the first trailer for the movie.

If you want to see more videos of each character broken down you can go to Marvel's Youtube Channel which has a playlist of all the videos related to this upcoming movie.
Some Background on the movie is that it is adapted from the Marvel Comic from 1969 as well as the 2008 release.
                   1969                                                                                                            2008
              Marvel 1969                                                                                     Marvel Comics 2008-2010

This band of Criminal misfits will show that anyone who believes it can be a hero. I can't wait to see this movie. What are your thought on the movie? Was it a good idea for another marvel comic to be made into a movie. Did they keep some of the story true?

I feel that it is going to be closer to the rebooted version of the comics than the ones from 1969. Even when you look at the pictures you can tell that the guardians of the galaxy from the past looks a little different, the idea and story line are going to be somewhat consistent.

Batman vs Superman

The new movie has been delayed for another year.
There is still a lot of buzz on this movie and no one seems to be worried that it will be coming out a year later then projected.

Well a secret has been revealed for the upcoming Batman vs Superman movie.
Zack Snyder tweeted the first picture and mentioned that the tarp would come off the next day.

The big reveal on May 13 shows not only the car from under the tarp but the bat suit as well.

Everyone is waiting in anticipation for what is to come.
Here is a review I found with closer looks at the costume.

Constantine

It looks like NBC is going to compete for viewers this coming fall 2014. They have added Constantine from DC Comics. Fall 2014 brings out more from the comic books that the large portion of viewers grew up on and that most of society is currently becoming great fans to.

Constantine is part of the new 52 comics from DC, but the original comics was Hellblazer that started in publication in 1988. The series ended with 300 issues in April 2013.

The movie in 2005 Constantine was loosely adapted from the Hellblazer comic.

This is the story of John Constantine, who is a seasoned demon hunter and master of the occult. He teams up with Liv. who is in danger because of her second sight and ability to see world's beyond our world, they travel around sending the hellish demons back to hell.

From what they have given us as a trailer for the TV show it looks like this show will be a little like both comics. Looking at the comics from the YouTube trailer there seems to be mixed emotions of whether this will be a success or a failure. When the show starts in the fall we will see how good it will turn out. What are your thoughts? Do you think it will be good? Better then the movie? Will it be like the comic?

Adventure Time Interview

Look what I found!
It looks like Madman got a chance to interview Jeremy Shada as Finn and John DiMaggio as Jack from Adventure Time.
They answer fan questions and talk about how they didn't realize how big Adventure Time was until they went a comic con. It's great to hear the voice actors speaking out about their roles and the show itself.
I hope you enjoy this. Tell me what your thoughts are.

The Walking Disney

When I was going through my facebook feed someone had posted a link to a gallery of images. I went through the gallery to try and find the source. The Walking Disney by Kasami-Sensei She has great talent.
Make sure you visit her Deviant Art page. I have put links to both.

The Flash TV Series 2014 Announced!

OMG how could people possibly keep up to my random, excitement, and too much going through my head. As if having all these super hero related TV shows are not enough they keep adding more the line up for Fall 2014.
Well it looks like since Arrow has been such a great successful show they made a spin off of Flash from one of the episodes.
It will be on CW along with iZombieBeauty and the Beast, along with Arrow, which has been renewed for another season.
The flash is going to be executive produced by Greg Berlanti & Andrew Kreisberg who produced Arrow as well.
Flash will be about Barry Allen from Arrow who had a tray of chemicals splash on him that were struck by lightening, which now enables him to move super fast.
Well I know I am super excited for this show coming out. What are your thoughts on this new show?
Do you think it is wise for TV producers to flood the viewing hours with super hero and classic remade shows? What will the fall of 2014 bring to a TV near you?

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

There is a new exclusive trailer for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes that is coming out July 11th.

.

In the second prequel to the movie created 46 years ago humans have been dying off from the Simian Flu which was created by scientists and accidentally unleashed on the unsuspecting humans. The Apes live in the forest and the humans live in a decaying city stat. On the website for the movie you can take a deeper look into both sides. They also have an online comic as well. There is also a commercial on the simian flu and how many people it has affected. There is a very detailed website on the disease and how it affected the human race over time.

This is a 20th century fox film directed by Matt Reeves. Starring Gary Oldman who places Officer Dreyfus, Keri Russell as Ellie, Andy Serkis as Caeser, Judy Greer as Cornelia & Toby Kebbell as Koba.
Both sides want to live in peace but by the looks from the trailer they each fear the other side. The fear from each side will lead to the war over the world. According to Hollywood reporter Matt Reeves has signed on to direct the third film which is likely to come out July 29, 2016
By the appearance of the graphics this is a big improvement on the older films. But does that make the movie? Is it really the changing technology and times that will increase the likely hood of people enjoying and watching these films or is it simply that with age someone wants to make an older movie better with the advancements in  video editing capabilities that we have now?

To me the trailer looks amazing and I will see this film for sure. It helps the Gary Oldman is in it and I like him in all his previous roles.
What are your thoughts on this film?

Google Smart Lens

I am sure everyone has seen the picture floating around.

Well It could be the way of the future. But what about people who can't put contacts into their eyes or who already have problems with their eyes. Should we really be sticking pieces of technology in them. Right now Google has made this awesome piece of technology to help diabetics monitor their glucose levels. There is a chip in it that can read the glucose levels in the persons tears and send it via radio frequency to alert someone when their sugar is either too high or too low. It does not hinder vision. But will you need frequent replacement lens?  This is great and all but again, what about the people who can't wear them? Is there not some other way or something that will work for all kinds of people? I fully understand that there is more research being done into this, getting this off the ground will be very difficult.
The article by google is Here. I also found a report done by the Associated Press on the contact lens.

Is this a really good idea? Should these pieces of technology be even introduced?

Gotham TV Series on Fox

OMG I was super excited when I watched this newly released trailer for the Gotham TV Series on FOX this fall. You have to watch this. It follows the story of detective James Gordon, who is played by Ben McKenzie.

What I really like is that they show you everyone before they were the heroes and villains that they become. It looks like it will be an origin story. It would be really good to see this series going on further to get all the characters origin stories. But I will be watching this for sure. I think they have picked good actors, as far as I can tell, for each character role. My one concern is that some of the characters may look too much like their future selves. Should they have been made a little less foreseeable? But that has been the way all Batman movies have gone. The characters looked like their name sake. I don't know how everyone else feels about it, but I can't wait till this comes out. Ok Nerdgasm over! What are your thoughts?

Donkey kong Country: Tropical Freeze

So I had a request from a friend to make the penguin from donkey long freeze out of polymer clay. I'm impressed with the detail I did. It's a little more difficult to work with small parts for the snowflake especially.

Godzilla

I am sure everyone knows that they have redone the godzilla movie. As many would say... Again!
I guess as technology advances film makers like the idea that they can improve on classic films.

This is the trailer for the Original 1954 movie

Over the years there has been many remakes, but does the revamped Godzilla work? Do you think it will be worth watching?

I kind of liked the 1998 version where Godzilla was pregnant and laying eggs. It was an odd twist but it kept it interesting. Many people didn't like the movie for various reasons. For the year it was made and the effects that were utilized it was well delivered.

Now with this film came many trailers but my favorite trailer would be the more comical one. In my opinion it was meant to be a little on the funny side. Matthew Broderick was excellent in the role he played. I could keep watching this movie.

In 1999 Japan decided to change the story of Godzillia just a little bit more. It was more like Godzilla was helping save them from a UFO also known as Orga. There are so many different ideas of what a Godzilla movie should be like.

So for 14 years the Godzilla story has gone untouched. Maybe it will improve with age. Well here is to hoping that the years have been good to the Godzilla story.
